How to Test Primer Performance on Any Substrate

Running a new substrate or revisiting one you've used before? Primer performance should always be tested before going to production.

In this video we walk through the full evaluation process, starting with applying indicator solution to check that primer is present and assess coat weight, then moving into a tape test using 3M 230 for paper or 3M 810 for film. A two-kilogram roller, a five-minute dwell time, and a 45-degree peel tell you whether the primer has cured properly. If the indicator solution stays blue where the tape was removed, the primer needs more time. Test again at 30 and 60 minutes.
